Compress Video for Android · Version 1.7.0 · Updated: 8 September 2026

Compression stays on your phone. The app does not upload your videos, thumbnails, file names or paths to our servers, analytics or advertising services. If you choose Share, Android sends the video to the app or recipient you select.

The free version uses advertising. Technical analytics and purchase verification also use a network connection. Individual video compression remains available offline.

2. Video access and local processing

You choose videos through Android's system picker. The app processes the selected files on your device and saves compressed copies through MediaStore. It does not scan your whole library. The optional space-saving feature asks Android for your confirmation before moving selected originals to the trash after their compressed copies have been saved.

3. Technical analytics

PostHog, on its European infrastructure, processes usage events such as compression, export, advertising and Pro purchase outcomes; video dimensions, duration, bitrate and codec; device and processor model, system and app version, language; a random installation identifier and network IP address. The IP address may be used to infer a country. These are technical measurements, not video content.

The measurements help improve compression estimates, reliability and the app's business model. Advertising revenue events contain the amount, currency, format and network, without your advertising identifier or video content. Installation identifiers and IP addresses are pseudonymous data, not a guarantee of anonymity. The app does not request your name, email address or phone number and has no user account.

4. Advertising and your choices

The free version integrates Google AdMob: a banner during individual compression, an interstitial before an individual result's first export when available, and an optional rewarded advertisement to unlock a batch. Pro removes these advertisements.

The Google Mobile Ads SDK collects and shares IP addresses (which can indicate an approximate location), app and ad interactions, diagnostics, and device or account identifiers such as the Android advertising ID and app set ID, for advertising, measurement and fraud prevention. Data is encrypted in transit. The app does not request precise location permission or send video content to advertising services.

Google's User Messaging Platform requests consent where required. When available, use the ⋮ menu → Ad privacy choices to review or withdraw your choices. Refusing personalized advertising does not make Pro mandatory. Advertising availability and personalization depend on your choices and Google's SDK rules. Android settings also let you reset or delete your advertising ID.

5. Pro purchases

Google Play processes payments. RevenueCat verifies purchases and restores Pro access using an app user identifier, purchase receipts or tokens, purchase history and entitlement status. We do not receive your payment card details. These records support the purchased features, fraud prevention and purchase analytics. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.

6. Network and permissions

Network access supports PostHog, AdMob, consent and purchase verification. Notification permission is optional and is used for compression progress. Android foreground service and wake-lock permissions support ongoing processing. Advertising SDK permissions include advertising identifiers and applicable Android ad services. Video content is processed locally; sharing is performed only at your request.

7. Local storage

The app stores compression calibration, preferences, local export history, Pro access status, consent information, the time of the last full-screen advertisement and any earned batch access. Cached working files and these local settings are cleared when you clear the app's data or uninstall it. Videos saved in your gallery remain under your control. Clearing local data does not cancel a Google Play purchase or erase provider-side records.

8. Retention and deletion

Our PostHog technical measurements are retained for up to twelve months. Google and RevenueCat retain their service records according to their policies and applicable requirements. Uninstalling stops future activity from this installation; it does not itself delete records already transmitted. Instructions and contact details are available on the Data Deletion page.

9. Your rights and changes

You can contact the publisher about access, correction or deletion of data, or to object to processing. We may need information that lets us locate the relevant installation or transaction. Where consent is requested, it can be withdrawn through the advertising privacy choices described above. The app is a general-audience utility and is not directed specifically at children. This page will be updated when our data practices change.
